Statement on the DOJ Action in State Climate Litigation

May 4, 2026

Today, the America Leads Alliance issued the following statement in response to the U.S. Department of Justice’s complaint filed against the State of Minnesota regarding its coordinated climate litigation targeting American energy companies.

We applaud the Department of Justice and the Administration for protecting federal authority and preventing state-level overreach from undermining our national energy security.

Minnesota’s lawsuit is a prime example of the coordinated legal campaign that seeks to use state and local courts to dictate national energy policy that Congress has never authorized. Framing it as a consumer protection matter doesn’t change what it is: an attempt to regulate global greenhouse gas emissions through state litigation, with American families footing the bill through higher energy costs.

We must prioritize practical solutions and reliable energy policy over litigation that serves political agendas rather than public needs. We stand for a future where energy remains affordable, our grid remains secure, and our legal system remains a tool for justice rather than a weapon against economic growth.
